The meter

What does a call cost?

Every hosted model has a relative rate, from 1× to 4×. A call costs its billed tokens (input, output and reasoning) times that rate. Tokens already in the prompt cache are free.

  1. Hold

    Before the model runs, the most the call could cost is set aside from your balance in one atomic step. No Fuel, no call: the API answers 402.

  2. Settle

    When the answer is back, the charge is what the call really used: its billed tokens times the model’s rate. Cached tokens cost nothing.

  3. Return

    The part of the hold the call didn’t use goes back to your balance at once. If the call fails, all of it comes back.

  4. Receipt

    Every response carries its exact charge in the X-Dulus-Fuel-Charged header.

Is Dulus really free?

Yes. The desktop app is free to download and use, with every built-in tool, sub-agents, Mesa Redonda and memory. You sign in with a free Dulus account, and Dulus charges nothing unless you use its hosted models.

Do I need Fuel if I have my own API keys?

No. Bring your own key for Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek and many more, or run a local model with Ollama, LM Studio or llama.cpp. None of that costs anything from Dulus. Fuel is only for Dulus-hosted models.

What happens when my Fuel runs out?

Calls to hosted models stop with HTTP 402 until you top up. There is no overdraft: your balance can never go negative. Your own keys and local models keep working as before.

Where are the subscriptions?

On dulus.online. Plans, their prices and checkout all live there; this site doesn’t repeat them. You never need a plan to use Dulus: the agent is free, and Fuel is pay as you go.

How do I top up Fuel?

Deposit $DULUS on Solana to your personal deposit address, which you’ll find in the desktop app’s Fuel view. It is credited to your Fuel balance with a 1% bonus on every deposit. 1 Fuel = 1 $DULUS, and only $DULUS deposits are credited.

What does the holder free tier need?

At least 1,000,000 $DULUS deposited as Fuel in your Dulus balance; tokens in your own wallet don’t count. It gives you 40 free messages every 24 hours on dulus-free-9b, dulus-free-7b and dulus-free-20b, up to 2,048 output tokens each. The balance is held, never spent.

Is $DULUS an investment?

No. It is what Fuel is paid with (1 Fuel = 1 $DULUS), and we make no promises about its price.
