A lighter edition for any terminal, from the free public repository. One line installs the dulus package from PyPI; it needs Python 3.11 or newer.

On Windows you don’t need it: the app already includes the CLI.

The open-source edition

One line. Any terminal.

For macOS, Linux, WSL and Termux. Each installer finds Python 3.11 or newer and installs the open-source dulus package from PyPI; run it again any time to upgrade. On Windows, the app already includes the CLI.

Piped like this, it installs the full profile. Add -s -- --profile=standard after bash for a lighter one, or -s -- --dry-run to see every step without changing anything.

Run it

  1. dulus

    Start it. The first run opens your browser to sign in with your free Dulus account.

  2. /model

    Pick a model: your own key, a local one, or Dulus-hosted on Fuel. /model lists them; /model dulus-b-27b switches.

  3. /help

    Look around. /help lists every command, /mesa convenes a round table of agents, and /memory searches what Dulus remembers.

Verify your download

Check it before you run it.

Every build has a SHA-256 fingerprint. If the file on your disk has the same one, it is byte for byte the file that was published.

  1. Get the published hash

    It shows up here, and on each card above, as soon as the release catalogue loads. The catalogue is public at downloads.dulus.ai/api/releases, and every download also carries it in the X-Dulus-SHA256 response header.

  2. Hash the file you downloaded

    On Windows, open PowerShell in the folder you saved it to, usually Downloads, and run:

    On macOS, run shasum -a 256 on the file; on Linux, sha256sum.

  3. Compare the two

    They must match character for character. PowerShell prints the hash in capitals, and case doesn’t matter. If they don’t match, don’t run the installer: write to [email protected].

What you need

Less than you’d think.

  • For the app

    Windows 10 or later, 64-bit

    Nothing else. Python and every library come inside the installer.

  • For the CLI

    Python 3.11 or newer

    On macOS, Linux, WSL, Windows or Termux. The one-line installers look for it first, and tell you how to get it if it’s missing.

  • To sign in

    A free Dulus account

    And an internet connection. Dulus asks you to sign in when it starts.

  • To think

    A model

    Your own API keys, a local model (Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp), or Fuel for the Dulus-hosted ones. Your own keys and local models cost nothing from Dulus.

After installing

Next, give it a mind.

Pick a model

Bring your own key, run a local model, or use the Dulus-hosted lineup. Switch any time with /model, and set how hard it thinks with /thinking 0–4.

Fuel for hosted models

Hosted models are paid per token in Fuel, and 1 Fuel = 1 $DULUS. Cached tokens are free, and a failed call is refunded in full.

Get an API key

Mint a dulus_sk_live_… key in the desktop app’s API Keys view and call control.dulus.ai/v1. It speaks the OpenAI API.
